Exercise your mind like you do your muscles...

Most creative endeavors start in your head – with thinking, planning, and plotting. The trick is to get your head in the right place to do all of that.

·      Thinking of something

·      And then planning it is hard.

·      You start with a clean slate of thought

·      And craft it into something new and exciting.

·      Get yourself into the right frame of mind to do that.

I’ve often written here about working for Bobby Baldwin: his thinking and actions were crystal clear and helpful. He had been the World Champion of Poker and often talked about that being a game of people, not cards. He trained himself to be able to read people and the way they reacted to situations. In business, he used those same skill to analyze work situations, the people who worked for him, and the challenges he faced every day. He showed us the benefits of building your mind to study situations before starting your planning: every aspect of building and opening new resorts needed that kind of understanding so that our final plans were as thoughtful and complete as could be. Without that guidance, our efforts would not have been as focused and successful. Take time to build your knowledge about the things you need to do – that’s the best way to get ready before starting things today
