Dream big...

Knowledge can take you only so far. Imagination can take your knowledge to new heights.

·      Knowing a lot

·      Allows you to think.

·      Dreaming allows those

·      Thoughts to take on new dimensions.

·      Boldly imagine where you’d like the future to be.

In college I learned about the laws and processes of human resources. Like interviewing applicants, hiring employees, writing policies, negotiating labor agreements, managing disputes, and maintaining files. But while most of what I learned and practiced was about compliance, it was also inefficient and uninspiring. I was good at what was, but then started to imagine what could be. We opened the Mirage with HR policies and practices that had been evolving since the late 1940s – but by 1989 those weren’t working for the way we wanted to do business. So, we dreamed of creating a partnership between labor and management and negotiated landmark collective bargaining agreements with Unite-HERE. After growing from a few hundred employees to more than 6000, we dreamed of better ways to manage employees and data through the power of computing. And we found that imagination was more important than knowledge. Don’t settle for just what you know and have always done: dream about how you’d like your world of work to be. That’s how to find fulfillment and success.  A little imagination can go a long way today.
