Today is Yom Kippur – the holiest of the Jewish holidays. A day when we ask forgiveness for our wrongdoings from God and from our fellow human beings.
- · Be mindful
- · Of the things you do.
- · Because, good or bad,
- · Those always affect others.
- · That should be important to you.
Today is about religion and faith: it’s about reflecting on all that we’ve (I’ve) done during the past year – good and bad, and it’s a matter of faith that this is important and meaningful. Faith is, after all, believing in things you can’t really prove. So, we believe and follow the rituals of our faith. Like once a year clearing the air, and that starts with your own conscience. Like fasting and saying prayers meant to prod thinking about our behavior. Like asking for forgiveness from God and others. Like learning from our mistakes and committing to not repeating them. In all facets of our lives. That’s what we think about today. The important lesson, however, is to remember all of this tomorrow when the fasting and praying are done and to focus on living a good and righteous life everyday. Have a good and holy day today.
