Take a shot...

We’re taught as children to color inside the lines, a lesson we sometimes need to break as we grow older.

·      Taking the easy road

·      Is easier than climbing

·      To the tallest mountaintops.

·      But nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Taking a good and calculated risk is often the best way to grow. Early in my career I took a risk when I left the manufacturing job I loved and moved to a hospitality and gaming job. I’d never been in a casino before that, but I knew and trusted the people who advised me to consider that. That company decided to try something completely new and built an integrated resort called The Mirage that many predicted would fail. But the research we did was solid, so we decided to be bold. It was so successful that I was able to recruit nearly 300 college graduates to choose a career in gaming, something most of their parents opposed. But we made sure to coach and support them and most went on to become amazing leaders throughout the gaming industry. If you’re not courageous enough to take a risk, you may not accomplish all you could in life. Do your homework, ask good questions, seek out a great mentor, take a calculated risk, and see what you can accomplish. Take a shot today.
