Exercise and watch what you eat...

I remember my grandmother saying: ‘if you have your health, you have everything’. And now that I think about it, she was about my age now when she told me that.

·      Health at any age is important.

·      But as we get older it means more.

·      Start eating right and exercising more

·      And take responsibility for your health today.

Health is big business today: watch tv or listen to CNN and big pharma is pitching drugs and weight loss programs. Those drown out the mothers and grandmothers encourage people to get their exercise, limit their sweets, and watch what they eat. Despite that, malls and schools are filled with overweight people – not good. For years, HR and benefits professionals like me have been worrying about the outbreak of vascular and diabetes’s-related problems and the impact those were having on company’s health plans and budgets. What we need are leadership voices speaking out about the benefits of good health. Every sport’s league throughout the world should organize their teams and athletes to speak out about the benefits of exercise and good diets – to become role models for healthy living. We all owe it to ourselves and those we love to heed that call. Because the first wealth is health today.
