Mistakes happen all the time. What’s important is what you do about them. And, not to make them twice.
· Mistakes
· Happen often.
· Learning from them
· Makes you a better person.
· Stop and learn from you mistakes.
Sometimes I think it’s harder watching others make mistakes – thinking back on it, I had to learn to deal with those. Like: the mistake isn’t personal – whoever made the mistake probably wasn’t trying to get your attention: but they do need you to pay attention and coach them to be better. Like: 99.9% of mistakes are not willful – hardly nobody starts out thinking ‘I’ll do this wrong’: they probably need reminding or some more training; either way, it’s almost always easily corrected. Like: the best thing you can do after making a mistake is realizing it, having the courage to admit it, and learning how not to do that again; mistakes like that are forgivable. If it’s you: react humbly and take the advice. If it’s someone you manage: be magnanimous and show them how to be better the next time. And no matter what: catch people when they do things right: a little recognition goes a long way. To be truthful: this kind of advice is easier to give than get. When needed: practice giving or getting this kind of advice today.
