Get up offa that thing...

“Everybody over there, get on up. Everybody out there, get into it. Everybody right there, get involved.” James Brown

What a week: election results in my personal life and a strategic planning gig in my business. Both involve personal involvement.

  • ·      Something for nothing
  • ·      Is what’s called a fool’s dream.
  • ·      The more you put in the more you
  • ·      Get out of everything in life and work.
  • ·      Get involved in the outcomes you’re hoping for.

The news is full of people complaining that the outcome of this past week’s election was not what they wanted. Only a little less than 60% of the eligible voters turned out in the elections yet it seems that some are complaining about the outcomes. Same at work: about 60% of workers are interested to learn everything they can about their employer, yet those that don’t expect to get ahead and make more money every year. In both, the issue is the same: the amount of your involvement in something determines how much you’ll get out of it. For the sake of this message, I’ll stick to the workplace because that’s where individuals can have more control over their outcomes. When you want to know more – get on up and get involved. When you want to get more – get into it.  And when you want to become more – get involved. People that get involved more usually benefit more. Get involved more in life and work today.
