We all know people who passionately promote their image. On social media and in real life. Even so, it’s sometimes hard to live up to an image.
· We are
· Who we are.
· In life and online.
· But it can be hard to live up
· To what others perceive us to be.
People today want to be seen as authentic, which the dictionary defines as “of undisputed origin; genuine”. That can be hard when you have a public persona like rock stars, politicians, big-time businesspeople, and cultural icons. Then, you are what others want you to be and it’s hard to deny them their perceptions, especially if you like that limelight. In a lesser sense, managers sometimes allow a larger-than-life personality to develop at work that’s not authentic. Be real and transparent with your employees if you want to develop relationships build on trust and respect. If you want an image, let it be one based on openness, fairness, humility, and empathy. That’s an image worth living up to today.
Elvis Presley (1935 – 1977), or simply Elvis, was an American singer and actor. Dubbed the "King of Rock and Roll", he is regarded as one of the most significant cultural figures of the 20th century.
