“Success
is a process for all of us, and as long as you are making consistent progress
towards your goals - sincerely giving your best effort more often than not -
then you are already successful and deserve to feel proud of yourself.” Hal Elrod
My wife is an artist: been
a photographer as long as I’ve known her. She’s always taking pictures –
sometimes with an SLR, others with an 8x10, and these days with her iPhone. From
darkroom to digital, she’s produced images that reflect the passage of time and
reconstructed memories. She was asked recently to put together a retrospective
show of her life’s work: more than 40,000 images distilled down to 80 for a
show that opened last night here in Las Vegas. Being an artist is a process: always
working and doing their best to capture moments in time. As I watched viewers
at the show’s opening, I was filled with an overwhelming sense of pride: not
just of her and her work, but of her constant progress towards being true to
herself. We can all be inspired by those who remain on course because of the
inner compass that drives them every day.
