This was going to be another message about the importance of loyalty, dependability, and endurance. But something got in the way.
· Another mass shooting, this time at UNLV.
· A city paralyzed by tragedy and grief.
· Lots of prayers, but no answers.
As I flew into Las Vegas last night, the city and its airport were locked down because of another mass shooting. An attack at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas sent shock waves through a city still scarred by the deaths of 60 people in a 2017 mass shooting. As of October 31, a total of 621 people have been killed and 2,126 others have been injured in 520 shootings in the US this year. At what point do we say, “enough is enough”? Prayers are appreciated, but solutions would be better – there must be a way to protect our children as well as our rights. The solution is obviously difficult, but if the elected officials we have can’t or won’t work until one is found, we should elect stronger ones who will. Strength in this instance doesn’t come from what you can do; it comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t. It’s time we all exclaimed enough is enough today.
