Always give it your best...

When you get hired, give it your all.

·      Show them what you can do.

·      And let them show they care.

The first weeks on the job are so important: managers must set new hires up for success with good onboarding and effective training; employees must give it their best while taking it on faith that their efforts will be appreciated and rewarded; then managers must respond appropriately. That’s a winning plan, but sometimes it’s not that smooth. Employers are looking for good employees, employees today are looking for a good job – both are hopeful, and it takes everyone to make it work for everyone. If you’re a manager, get ready for your new employee by planning a warm welcome and coach for success; if you’re a new employee, keep your eyes and ears open and put your best foot forward. There’s no guaranty, but diligence will improve the odds for success. There’ll be lots of questions, but open lines of communication will help answer them. Both should put their egos aside and their efforts into making it work. That’s in everyone’s best interest. Whatever you’re getting into, give it your best today.
