Who knows where the time goes...

And just like that, October ends and November begins; the first 10 months of 2023 are behind us.

·      We may long for a simpler or different time,

·      But all we have is the present.

·      The past may define us but today will consume us.

·      Stay in the moment to get the most out of each day.

I know that time passes, is passing, and never stops. Just the same, I was surprised when reminded recently that Treasure Island (the family themed casino) is 30 years old and that later this month Bellagio (and its famous fountains) will be 25. Seems like a lifetime ago that so many friends and I opened those wildly successful casinos. Makes me think of the song Who Knows Where the Time Goes, first written and performed when I was 18. Back then, I thought it described my life to that point – but ever since, time seems like it’s been accelerating. And even though I remember those days like they were yesterday, I know I can’t go back to any of them because life is a one-way street that’s always going forward. So, I savor the memories and acknowledge how they shaped me, smile at the good times and how they felt, hope that the bad times don’t come again, and recall all the people and friends who’ve been along for the journey. No regrets, only memories and lessons. Every day is a birthday as well as a new day. Combine them to get the most out of today.
