Be on time. Or be left behind. It’s up to you to be wherever you must be when you’re supposed to be there.
· We’ve got schedules
· And they all must be kept.
· Some more important than others,
· But each one is important to someone.
· Be respectful of everyone’s time and needs.
Work has always been filled with schedules and meetings, and with Zoom, these seem to have become more pervasive. Whether in person or remote, be respectful of people’s time: don’t call unnecessary meetings, make sure every meeting starts on time, have an agenda and stated purpose, keep them as brief as possible, and thank everyone for their time and effort. Nobody likes to sit through a meeting that bounces around, fails to achieve its objective, or wastes their time. And just because you’re the boss doesn’t give you carte blanche to act without a clear objective. If you want to just have fun, invite people to lunch or label the meeting as a free form brainstorming (some might characterize this as BS) session. But make a point to make meetings timely, purposeful, and fulfilling. Treat other’s time as importantly as you want them to treat yours. Because nobody has any extra time to spend today.
