Look ahead: that’s where the future is; it’s where you’re going.
· Yesterday
· Is past and gone.
· Whatever was there
· Prepared you for today.
· Don’t dwell on what might have been.
All summer long we enjoy the warm sunny days, hoping they’ll never end. But all summer long we watch as the days grow shorter and know that, indeed, this season ends. During the summer here in the mountains, leaves grow green, the water in the lakes grows warm, and the insect sounds grow intense. We go for hikes, paddle our kayaks, ride our bikes, and jump in the water, knowing that the season is fleeting. Earlier in the summer, the sun set after 9pm; tonight, as the summer ends, it sets before 6:30. The leaves are already beginning to turn colors and we look forward to the beauty of Fall. We didn’t look back because we knew this yearly passage was coming. In life, it’s best to be focused and passionate about today, and to prepare for tomorrow. All the yesterday’s we had prepared us for now. As you finish the Labor Day weekend and get ready to go back to work, don’t look back. Set your eyes on the future and enjoy today.
