In my consulting practice, we call it “unfreezing” – that’s the process of opening your mind to new ideas and possibilities.
· Don’t stand on principle
· Thinking you’re always right.
· That might get you into trouble
· Because you’re unwilling to consider
· New ideas and practices in the things you do.
We all get stuck thinking we know what’s best. The problem often is that our thinking is based only on our own experiences and habits. There’s a big world out there and, since networking is so easy, it’s crazy not to take advantage of all the opportunities to learn. But first you must be willing to learn, to change your mindset, and to be open to other best practices. Don’t ever be too proud to listen and learn. A good example is soft skills training for managers – courses have traditionally been classroom based and 4 hours in length – both of those present challenges in today’s work environment and with today’s younger workforce. That’s why I developed Tiny Classroom Training (www.tinyclassroomtraining.com) – a new kind of format that adapts to today’s workplace needs (Google it and check it out). But that’s just one of countless new ideas available for workplace leaders in this fast-paced and ever-changing world. Don’t be too proud unfreeze your mind today.
