Keep magic alive....

People often ask me about the transition from Golden Nugget to Mirage: it was a magical time that changed everything. We began as the Golden Nugget team: ordinary people who worked together in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, forging friendships and creating new ideas; we evolved into the Mirage team that was both riding on and managing a tidal wave of change. It was a special project: the building, the people, and the ideas raised our abilities, awareness, and game to a much higher level.  But I realized we had to plan and prepare for the time when that “high” might eventually become a new, and not so special, normal.  We leveraged the Mirage’s pre-opening spirit to develop and include employees in volunteer activities; we created employee focus groups to work on keeping practices and ideas refreshed; and we listened to their ideas to promote the concept that they too could change things and make a difference. These kept that magical feeling alive and deepened their loyalty to our company.
