Steve Wynn designed just about
everything in, on and about the properties he developed. There was no detail
too small to escape his consideration or approval: attention to detail was part
of his and everyone else’s job description; let’s just say it was deeply
embedded in our corporate culture. He’d work countless hours and months in the
design studios and continue checking and refining things right up to the time
the facility would open: opening on time was very important and so was getting
it right; often those two goals were in conflict. I’ve seen floors and windows torn out and redone at the last minute to ensure they were
consistent with the detailed plans; while it was sometimes maddening it
reinforced the message that you only get one chance to make a good first
impression. Every job – big or small – deserves our absolute attention to
detail to make sure it’s absolutely right.
Competition is fierce everywhere and only those willing to commit to the
highest levels of excellence are going to win. Let that be one of your New
Year’s resolutions today.
Steve
Jobs (1955 –2011): American entrepreneur, business magnate, inventor,
industrial designer. and the chairman, chief executive officer (CEO), and
co-founder of Apple Inc
