Integrity matters....

Character is something people look for in their leaders: it’s not an on-again, off-again thing. When interviewing for a new job, ask about the character of the person you would be reporting to. Rather than ask whether he or she has character, ask them, and possibly a few of their subordinates, for examples of how the potential boss handles good times and bad: find out if they share glory with others and how they respond to the challenges of adversity. Those in authority should handle the power of their position appropriately: they should be fair and even tempered, calm and communicative, wise and curious, open and caring. These are examples of how someone with good character acts. Ask about this if you’re changing jobs, and be sure to act like this if you’re hiring someone new. People with good character know what’s right and act accordingly every day.
