Not everything you create turns out right initially: trust me, I know. Sometimes
you don’t know enough, other times you don’t know what you don’t know; and then
there are times when the timing isn’t right. I didn’t know enough the first
time I managed a mass hiring process: collecting and storing that much
information was challenging. I didn’t know what I didn’t then then as well:
computers were new in the workplace then and it was not yet understood what
they could do. And the timing wasn’t right then either, again because computers
were so new and there weren’t enough trained and qualified specialists. But I didn’t dwell on what went wrong: I read
everything I could find about computers, networked with colleagues and vendors
to see what they knew, and brainstormed with my team and other creative
computer specialists who helped us find the answers. Don’t let all the challenges that arise in
pursuit of your innovative ideas diminish your appetite for getting them
finished. Be tenacious in the pursuit of your creative ideas today.
