Follow through on what inspires you...

Stop waiting to be inspired. You’ll know it when it happens.

·      Inspiration can’t be ordered like a take-out meal.

·      It happens when the circumstances are right.

Inspiration often starts with a need – if you know what you want, you’ll be open to seeing the possibilities. You’ll be thinking about it. You’ll see some possibilities in lots of things, most of which you’ll reject because they’re not feasible. But then, suddenly, like stars lining up, the inspiration to do something a certain way will hit you. No warnings. Like the inspiration I discussed in my Ted Talk[1] to give an ex-felon a second chance. It wasn’t someone we would ordinarily hire but I just knew it was the right thing to do. To give someone the chance to make the rest of their life the best of their life. It was full of challenges but following through on that great inspiration turned out to be very rewarding and fulfilling. Don’t be so quick to reject something just because it appears at first to be challenging. Think about every possibility, sort through their pros and cons, work with everyone that can help you, and keep at it until the right one inspires you. You’ll know it when it happens. Then do what it takes to make it happen. That’s how something great can start to happen today.
