When I broke into the gaming business at the Golden Nugget,
it seemed to be the biggest and best place: my colleagues and I worked closely
together and everyone knew what everybody else was doing. Mirage changed all
that. Wynn’s innovative integrated resort concept multiplied the size and scope
of everything: we all had to stretch our minds around that new idea and
challenge ourselves to cope with bigger and make it better. Because most people like the friendly working
relationships found in smaller places, we were intent on finding ways to
connect and stay connected with so many more colleagues at all levels. We created pre-opening offices that were
compact and forced all the new managers to work in close quarters and in even
closer collaboration: this built a community of shared experiences, efforts and
goals. After that we were hooked and
