· Most people want to be a leader.
· It’s easier said than done.
Leadership is the ability of an individual to influence and guide followers or members of an organization, society or team.
· It’s about providing a vision for where the group is going today and in the future.
o And it’s about communicating clearly and effectively.
· It’s about having integrity, self-awareness, respect, compassion, and resilience.
o And it’s about having the courage to practice all those things.
· It’s about being inspirational.
o And it’s about being creative and resourceful.
· It’s about imaging what it’s like to be in someone else’s shoes.
o And it’s making them believe you know what they’re feeling.
· There are many synonyms for a strong and influential leader, including:
o "Powerful," "authoritative," "charismatic,"
o "Persuasive," "dynamic," "inspirational,"
o "Visionary," "innovative," "decisive," and "respected."
· But the main thing is to be trustworthy and trusted.
That’s how leaders accomplish more than the science of management says is possible. That’s the kind of leadership we need today.
