· When the inevitable happens,
· Accept it, and
· Deal with it.
Things don’t always go the way you want. Or they’re different than what you expected. It’s easy to hold on and hope that something changes. But often it’s up to you to change. When that happens, take stock of the situation, consider the options and alternatives, talk it over, and do what it takes to move on. Nobody likes detours, but they’re better than sitting while others blow their horns at you. Let’s face it – this happens more than we’d like and as a leader it’s up to you to guide others around obstacles (in life and work). Responsibility includes a cool head, common sense, flexibility, and a focus on the bigger picture. I know, firsthand, that this is so much easier said than done. When, not if, it happens, stop and take a deep breath. And make the most out of whatever happens today.
