You must believe that you can overcome the challenges you face. That starts with believing in yourself.
· When you
· Are challenged
· To be creative, you
· Must believe you are
· Good enough and smart
· Enough to overcome them.
I had dinner with colleagues last night and the conversation wound through several business problems they were facing. As we began talking about each, the issues seemed complex, and the solutions seemed elusive. But by first defining and agreeing on the objectives for each one we became more confident that we could find solutions to them. Not because the problems got any easier, but because focusing on the objective and not on the problem gave a framework to address them. Life, like work, is full of nagging and seemingly intractable problems – the trick is to find the confidence to confront them. If you believe you can, half the battle is won. Reframe problems as challenges in search of solutions, break them down into bite-sized components, and leverage your knowledge and expertise to them. Keep it simple and keep going. One step at a time. Until you reach the top. Start by believing in yourself, in your knowledge, in your skills, and in your abilities. That’s what we each did during last night’s conversations and by the end of dinner we had more solutions than problems. That’s how to be a match for any mountain you face today.
