Give people the space and support to succeed...

Hire the best people. Give them the training they need to do their jobs. Then let them work to their potential.

·      Good people need

·      Little or no supervision.

·      Give them the tools they need

·      To achieve their goals and aspirations.

We tend to over-supervise our best people. That’s a sure-fire way to dim their enthusiasm and morale. If you hire them for their attitude, train them to know and understand what’s expected, and coach them as needed, you’ll find they can and will exceed your expectations. Leaders often think command and control is what’s needed, but not for them. Strong people will do what is both expected and right and will not need much of a leader’s supervision. What they will need are clear directions, regular communications, appropriate recognition, and promotions when the time and position are right. Save yourself for your problem children and you’ll find that the added time you are able to spend with them will either improve their attitude and performance or convince them to move on. Forget the old organizational models and give your best employees the room to display their skills and succeed today.
