Life is a balancing act… and it often can go one way or the other. We have control of most of the variables that can influence the way things fall. But not always.
· Our intent matters.
· So does our knowledge.
· And how we interact with others.
· But the unknowns are always at play.
· You must be ready for whatever happens.
As a recruiter (and one who’s been recruited in the past), I know that with opportunities there can also be disappointments. You never know who else is in the running or how others will decide. You must do all you can to put yourself in the best possible position. Know who and what you are, and what you want to achieve; control what you can, pay attention, account for the variables, and be ready to react to the unexpected. Diagnosing every situation will allow you to see what’s needed. Staying flexible will allow you to meet the demands of the situations you face and any surprises that occur. And keep your eye on the goal. That’s the best way to get a spinning coin to fall in the direction you think it should. Actively manage the situations you’re in to best influence the way things fall today.
