While living in Laguna
Beach I had the opportunity to work on the opening of the Resort at Pelican
Hill. I love opening hotels: hiring and
training everyone and building them into successful teams. This one had all that plus one other very
cool element: its architectural style was inspired by the works of Andrea
Palladio, an Italian architect from the 16th century. Palladio was highly
regarded during his lifetime, and his designs and ideas live on and are prized
more than 400 years after his death. Faithfully followed here, those gave the
Resort a unique look and feel: that provided us with the opportunity to infuse
employee orientation with a sense and appreciation of what was created there;
it’s culture is based in large part on the history of its design. Every company
has some kind of history, culture or theme associated with it: find what makes your
company unique and inspire others with it today.

social commentator, and philosopher
