I recently spoke at a
conference for talent acquisition professionals: I knew lots of the attendees
and met some others for the first time. There was a guy there who started an
Association of Talent Acquisition Professionals (ATAP) to focus on and serve
these attendees and others in this line of work. There have long been trade
associations for practitioners in HR, Training and Development, and Comp and
Benefits: now this fellow and a few of his colleagues decided to start one
specifically for those who specialize in recruiting. He took a chance one day
to start something he thought was really important: he just decided to do
it. We often get used to the ways things
are and overlook obvious opportunities to do something different: don’t fall
into that rut. If you think something is important then focus on it; if you see
something that needs changing then just do it.
That’s how great things get started every day.
