You’re expected to do things
right: both the big and the little. I was in a hotel last week and used the
complimentary bath robes they often leave in the closet: there were two - on
one the attendant took the time to put the belt through the loops
appropriately, on the other they didn’t.
Now granted, this isn’t a big thing, but the right way is through the
loops so the belt won’t fall off when you use it; it’s a small thing, I know,
but if they can’t get this right then what else may be overlooked or wrong? Because
once you cut one corner it becomes easier to cut others, some of which might
really be important. All of us do lots of things every day: those they’re done
for have the right to expect them to be done correctly. If you’re responsible,
do what’s right every time; if you’re the supervisor, pay attention and coach
others to do things right every time. Don’t cut corners today.
