Recognize the good and the bad...

My wife is a wonderful visual artist: she’s given me an appreciation of what takes to create the good and the bad. And like so many other things in life, more goes into making good pictures than ever meets the eye. Things like:

·      Imagination

·      Attention to detail

·      Meticulous planning

·      Continuous improvement

·      Flawless execution and follow up.

Most who worked on the opening of Bellagio will say it’s the best thing they ever did. From all facets of that project. We each had our respective specialties, and each was done to near perfection (always keeping in mind that perfection is the enemy of progress). And throughout it all, we captured more than 27,000 pictures of that project from groundbreaking to grand opening.  We collected the best of them and put them in a Yearbook we produced as a gift for all who opened that property (see AOM message from 03 04 2021): it told the story of the efforts of so many, captured in their happy and smiling faces. It was our way of recognizing and appreciating the hard work and pride they put into making that project so successful. People can choose to do a good job; a bad one, too. We're quick to focus on poor performance... make sure you're just as quick to recognize the good. Catch people doing things right today.

William Eggleston (born 1939): American photographer. He is widely credited with increasing recognition for color photography as a legitimate artistic medium.
