Everyone comes from a myriad of places that together help shape who and what they are right now. And it’s the here and now that count.
· Experiences galore,
· That all happened before,
· Molded and shaped what we
· Are in the immediate here and now.
On March 31, 2023, President Biden proclaimed April 2023 as Second Chance Month; my friend Jon Ponder from Hope for Prisoners (H4P) is making the most of this. The concept of second chances is that there’s always an opportunity to try something again after failing one time. As you know from my previous writings here, H4P helps men and women who’ve been incarcerated make the most of their second chances when released. But the universe of those who can benefit from having a second chance is much larger than that. We all know people who’ve missed the mark and who could and should be given another chance. Don’t be too hard on others (colleagues, friends, family, and employees) who do less than expected – coach and mentor them and help them be or do better the next time. Anyone who’s earned and asks for a second chance deserves: that will help them believe their past does not have to be their future. Support that belief today.
