Always have a Plan B...

Things rarely go exactly as expected. Make multiple plans to prepare for the unexpected.

·      Being prepared

·      Means preparing

·      For the unexpected.

·      Plan A often needs a Plan B.

Opening a casino resort requires good plans and even better back up plans. Everything hinges on the construction being complete – when supplies are delivered, furnishings installed, and employee start dates scheduled. The projects I worked on regularly called for thousands of employees to start at various times and unless everything was ready those plans were subject to delay. But it gets even more complicated when new employees try to time the dates of the resignations from their current jobs to coincide with potentially moving start dates – they don’t want to go too long without a paycheck. Unexpected changes like those and so many other things in our everyday lives demand excellent communications – giving everyone enough time to make the unexpected work. When things go awry, make sure you’re prepared with well-designed alternative plans that everyone is aware of and prepared for. In instances like this, there can never be too much communication or flexibility. Remember the kind of notice you prefer when changes occur and provide that to others. Give your team a chance to succeed with good planning today.
