Act like your reputation depends on it...

Everybody wants to have a good reputation. Who do you think is responsible for making that happen?

·      The only one

·      Responsible for

·      Who and what you are

·      Is You. Nobody but you.

As the Mirage took off, everyone was caught up in its success. We had worked for more than 3 years to plan that opening, and to the outside world it looked like everything worked perfectly. Of course, it didn’t, and the things that failed in the first few months needed our full attention to fix. The HR and Payroll system failed within weeks, the Cage was overrun with credit applications, and the crowds were so massive we couldn’t get the money out of the slot machines to count and get back onto the floor. We had to learn how to deal with the immense volumes the business produced, like picking up and getting rid of the 55,000 bottles of beer that were served each day. We worked tirelessly to smile and take care of every guest and in the end that’s what made our reputations; we were seen as a team endeavored to be as skilled and successful as we desired to appear. Things go right and wrong for all of us every day – never lose sight of what you want to be known for and stick to it until you are. Do what it takes to build your reputation today.

Socrates (470–399 BC): Greek philosopher from Athens who is credited as the founder of Western philosophy and among the first moral philosophers of the ethical tradition of thought.
