Happy Valentine's Day...

Today is Valentine's Day, celebrated in honor of the 3rd century Roman saint, Saint Valentine. In modern times, it has become a cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and love in many parts of the globe. You can assume that your employees are thinking about and celebrating it today in some way. So, join in and use this occasion to tell them how much you care about and admire the work they do.

·      Personally greet each employee today.

·      Thank them for all the good work they do.

·      Explain what you like about the work they do.

·      Tell them you’re proud to have them on your team.

·      And at the end of today, thank them for all that they do.

Teddy Roosevelt once said: “nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care”. That’s certainly true of employees, and while it shouldn’t take any special occasion to let them know you care, today is as good a day as any to do that. They’re your team and it’s best to do all you can to hold onto them. To that end, there’s probably nothing better you can do for your team’s performance, morale, and retention than to let them know how much you care, and to wish each of them a Happy Valentine’s Day today.
