A whole new year is ahead of us; so much to think about, including where to start. Resolutions are good, and good plans will make them better, especially at work. All that you’ve done up until now merely prepares you for what’s ahead. Don’t dwell on the past: take what you’ve learned and use that to focus on what’s ahead.
· Write down your vision and discuss it with your team
· Listen carefully to them and seriously consider their input
· Harness your resources and carefully assemble a team to execute the plan
· Make sure everyone is informed, engaged, positive and committed to the plan’s goals
It’s never too soon to get started on tomorrow. The present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start. In the best of times, a plan and a starting line give you much to go on. But with the ebb and flow of Covid (again), you must adjust and be both focused and flexible, optimistic and realistic, and committed and concerned. As a former colleague used to say: “nothing comes easy” – effective leaders know how to balance all the variables and obstacles they face. Now is the time to use your skills to lead your team. Keep one eye on the plan and the other on the bouncing ball today.
