Improve your soft skills...

I mostly write here about the things I learned and did while working in the gaming industry – we had a workplace culture there that strongly supported innovation and excellence and knew that those were key to our success. Since then, I’ve done some entrepreneurial things that have been equally challenging, fulfilling, and noteworthy. One is an online micro-learning company called Tiny Classroom Training (TCT), where we provide video-based soft skills training for managers and supervisors. I originally designed it to address logistical issues I faced providing management training at Mirage and Wynn Resorts – like scheduling managers and supervisors to be in classrooms and finding replacements for them while they were in class, overcoming their dislike of sitting in class for hours at a time, making sure their bosses were aware of what they learned, and getting their bosses to reinforce and provide coaching to support what was learned. At TCT we designed video courses that are 1-hour in length, could be watched in 10-minute increments, and included summary information for the bosses. It enhances soft skills, strengthens superior/subordinate relationships, and improves the competencies of managers and supervisors to get the most out of their people. Some great side benefits: a common management language around the meaning and use of soft skills, well managed and happier employees, and improved performance and customer service.  Great for gaming, hospitality, restaurant, and retail companies. Great for helping companies be successful. It’s called investing in your employees. Long story short: help your managers and supervisors improve their soft skills today.
