Be Real. Be You. Be Proud. πŸ’ͺ✨🧭

Chasing approval is the fastest way to lose the only person who matters—yourself. Pride comes from being yourself, not performing.

True self-respect grows from accepting who you genuinely are, rather than wearing a mask to impress other people. Meaning:

·   Living in alignment with your true values, flaws, and personality. Real pride is a quiet, steady self‑acceptance.

·     Stopping the exhausting cycle of acting a certain way just to gain approval, fit in, or meet others’ unrealistic expectations.

Life is not a performance; it’s real. Family, friends, and colleagues want the real you—the competent, confident, reliable you. The one who knows their values and boundaries and sticks to them. Values that are well‑thought‑out and part of your DNA. You can update them as needed, but you shouldn’t ignore them.

Leadership discipline grows pride. Leaders use tools to stay aligned — and individuals should too. A personal SWOT analysis can help you stay grounded. Keep it close—your version of under a desk blotter. We may not have business plans for our lives, but we all need a way to validate our daily actions and decisions.

Call it the Proud Person’s Toolkit—the set of practices, values, and reminders that keep you aligned, intentional, and proud of who you are and what you do. A toolkit that helps you achieve objectives you’re proud of. And be the person you’re proud of today.

Holly Bourne (born 1986): British author of young adult fiction (Am I Normal Yet?).
