“The various features and aspects of human life, such as longevity, good health, success, happiness and so forth, which we consider desirable, are all dependent on kindness and a good heart.” H. H. The Dalai Lama
Jetsun Jamphel Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso, usually shortened to Tenzin Gyatso (born Lhamo Döndrub in1935) is the 14th Dalai Lama, a spiritual leader revered among the people of Tibet. He is the head of the government-in-exile based in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, India. Tibetans traditionally believe him to be the reincarnation of his predecessors.
What is in your heart today? You wish for a long life, hopefully filled with health and success and happiness. If you knew your life would be long but that you’d be unhappy and unhealthy – would you still care to go on? If you knew that success would always elude you – would you still get up and try? If you were kind and sincere but rarely felt the same from those around you – would you still care? The truth is that in life it’s never all one way or the other – you must accept both the good and bad, and still continue as if all were good. The challenges we face may seem like uphill battles when in fact they are just as yet unknown and unrealized opportunities to learn and grow. Acting with a good heart filled with kindness is a path worth following. Start today on this wondrous and rewarding journey.
