Work is work: the challenge is making it what you love to do....

I’ve known lots of HR folks during my career: people who have transitioned from one job to other successful endeavors. I see them at various events and am always amazed and inspired to find how passionate they remain about doing important work. Last week I was at a talent acquisition conference: more than most things in this profession, recruiting has been affected by advances in technology, regulations, and changing demographics.  But what hasn’t changed is the importance of a candidate’s experience. My buddy Gerry spent the majority of his career at a big consumer products company and then went on to creating metrics for an awards program for best practices in recruiting. He’s been a one-man force for getting the biggest and best companies to understand the importance of candidate experiences on successful recruiting: it’s a cause bigger than himself and continues to excite him every day. Find the thing that puts lots of energy in your career today.
